Hello Spring!
Spring is a season of new beginnings. Just as the earth is experiencing a new beginning by resuming its tilt toward the Sun and ushering in more daylight (for us in the northern hemisphere), our bodies also experience new beginnings. Now is a time for ritual, for celebration, for cleansing. Before you welcome the new life and abundance of spring, you must clear out what is expired, stagnant and no longer useful in your space. Here are some ways you can cleanse and rejuvenate your energetic body/aura, your physical body and the energy of your home.
*Sweep your home from front to back, moving from room to room in a counterclockwise fashion. Sweep up the dirt and gather into a bag, dispose of bag through a rear exit towards the back of your residence and discard. Mop the floors of your home in the same pattern, using a cleanser with natural plant medicine such as pine or eucalyptus, as both have anti septic and energetic cleansing properties. Dispose of dirty water from the rear or your home.
*Light a candle, incense or herbs to cleanse the air with fire. Start with the front of your home and move towards the back, again moving from room to room in a counter clockwise fashion. As each room fills with smoke, thank your ancestors both known and unknown and set your intentions for the energy you are calling in.
*Take a bath, shower or bird bath with cool water and spring herbs to cleanse your body and aura. I like rosemary and nettles, as both have benefits for skin and hair, as well as protective energy. As the water rinses over your body, imagine all of the dirt, fear, doubt, anxiety, sadness, frustration and other emotional yuck washing away. Thank your ancestors, your Creator/Higher Power/God/dess for bringing you into a new season. Speak your intentions or affirmations out loud as you wash your body, and charge the water with these words.
*Drink herbal teas/infusions/tinctures with plants, herbs and roots that nourish the blood and activate the liver to support the body’s natural detoxification process. I love nettle, dandelion root, burdock root. You can also add nutritive adaptogens and immune boosters such as tulsi/holy basil, turmeric root and ashwagandha. By stimulating the liver and reducing stress, we can help our bodies shift into a new season of increased activity and find balance in midst of the changes.
How will you usher in Spring? Happy Spring Cleaning!!
