I LOOOOOOVE the fragrance of Vetiver so much. I first discovered it buying fragrance for an ex, and I ended up wearing the fragrance more than he did! In addition to smelling AMAZING, particularly if you’re into earthy woody “masculine” scents like I am, it also has some incredible benefits for skin.
Vetiver is a grass native to India that is now cultivated in tropical regions all over the world. The essential oil is made by distilling the roots, producing a warm earthy and smoky aroma along with green “grass” top notes. Vetiver is similar to other fragrant grasses like lemongrass or citronella. When used in aromatherapy, vetiver promotes relaxation, balance and peace, offering an uplifting vibration.
Much like it does in soil, vetiver brings moisture to the skin and balances oil production. Vetiver has cooling properties and can heal sunburn, redness and irritation.
Vetiver has antiseptic properties, healing cuts and blemishes to the skin. It is also an astringent, which cleanses, tightens pores and tones skin. Vetiver has antioxidants, which eliminate toxins and free radicals.
With so many beneficial properties, its no wonder vetiver is the base of so many products, ranging from food to perfume. Beloved Wild’s Herbal Buttacream and Protected Hand Sanitizer are available in Vetiver Mint, with organic vetiver essential oil from Haiti. Check them out in the Beloved Wild Shop!
*I love to use the Herbal Buttacream in Vetiver Mint as a light sunscreen and bug repellant for my little one, who loves to play in grass and dirt. He’s got “sweet blood” like his Mama, and those mosquitos love us. Vetiver has some bug repelling properties as well, and it soothes the skin once those seemingly inevitable bites occur between fingers and toes, on ears and ankles, spots we may miss with conventional insect repellant.
