Happy New Moon! Are y’all feeling this eclipse energy?

The Moon in Taurus energy usually has me slowing down, resting and practicing stillness, but this eclipse energy is on 10 right now!

Taurus invites us to flow into physical sensations and enjoy the pleasure of the present moment, to fill our cups with beauty, love and pleasure. But this New Moon has lots of chaotic energy along with it: Mercury, Saturn and Pluto are all still retrograde, demanding that we reassess everything, slow down and consider our power. Moon squaring Neptune insists that we pay attention to the details and not just how we feel. Illusions, deception or fantasy can have us lost and scattered, misdirecting our energy. Saturn square Uranus has us in the thick of a battle between tradition and innovation. What new worlds are just on the verge of manifesting?

For this eclipse, take the time to savor the beauty around you, especially if you created it! Reflect on the work required to get here. Commit to creating your reality again and again. The world needs us all.

Reflections on Radical Taurus Energy

I really despise astrology memes that paint Taurus as shallow, into luxury goods and comfort food. People with prominent Taurus placements possess an emotional strength and power rivaled only by its opposite sign of Scorpio.

My favorite embodiment of radical Taurus energy is Beloved & Venerated Ancestor, Ell Hajj Malik El Shabazz, Brother Minister Malcolm X.

We love Malcolm for his passion, his persistence, for the ways in which he contained the collective rage of Black people, but also for the ways he held our hopes and dreams of freedom. We love him for his, at the time unconventional thinking, his willingness to step outside of the norm and see beyond the confines of Black inferiority that limited Black people.

Looking at Malcolm’s sidereal chart, he had a Taurus Sun and Venus in Gemini, mirroring the current transits or configuration of planets in the zodiac. Brother Malcolm, the prophet, like always, knew what time it was.
