On February 17, 2026 at approximately 7 AM EST, the Sun and the Moon, both in the sign of sidereal Aquarius, form a perfect conjunction at 3 degrees. This perfect conjunction is the New Moon. During the New Moon, the moon is actually dark, or has minimal visibility because there is no sunlight reflecting off the moon back down to earth. This dark moon is a highly receptive period, and is a good time to feed and nourish your goals, wishes and dreams.

The dark moon phase of the lunar cycle presents a special opportunity to give your goal setting, dreamcasting and imaginative ruminations an extra boost because it is a fertile incubator. We have been taught to fear the darkness, but darkness is where the magic resides. Away from the light of your conscious awareness and attention, the darkness contains the multitudes that cannot be seen by the human eye, but can be felt by the human heart. Away from the magnetism of the sun, it possesses it’s own force. This force is subtle but powerful. It will gently touch your auric body, you may not even notice it, but it will send shock waves, ripples through your psyche and your soul. This is the best time to work your magic, your rituals, your prayers, your intention setting, your vision board, your bullet point list, your transcendant meditation, your free writing and sketching. However you conjure a vision of the life you desire, now and over the next three days is the best time to get to work programming your mind, your heart and your spirit for success. Once the moon is visible, at the crescent moon, you can begin your efforts in the material world. This is not the time to focus on getting it perfectly right. Don’t overthink it. You already know what to do. Just start!

This New Moon is in sidereal Aquarius, the sign of the water bearer. It’s often represented as a vessel or jar containing water, and symbolizes irrigation in the land, circulation in the body, and free flowing cognitive thought in the mind. Aquarius represents a strong intellect, clear cognition, or a logical thought process that holds immense knowledge. Aquarius also contains emotions, but does not feel them and instead thinks about feelings. This can make people with Aquarius energy seem emotionally detached or cold. Don’t mistake their presentation for their inner state, because they are rarely as calm internally as they seem. But we don’t love Aquarians for their calmness, it’s their cool. Aquarians are not beholden to the opinions of others, and will express themselves in unique ways or offer a unique perspective. No one is thinking ahead, solving problems or creating fashion trends like Aquarians. Aquarian energy is innovative, unique and breaks away from the norm. People with Aquarian energy require lots of individual freedom and will often have the most diverse friend group, giving each of their friends the freedom to be themselves. However, where Aquarians are open socially, they can be very rigid mentally. Once they have made up their mind, there is very little that can change their mind. Aquarians are usually so far ahead mentally or intellectually that whatever insights they offer are light years ahead of what everyone else is thinking or doing that no one catches on – they’re just happy to be in the loop and have access to the cool shit.

Aquarius energy supports imagination, creativity and inventiveness. While Aquarians often work best alone, their efforts are often a part of a group or collective efforts to improve society. Aquarius needs space to do things their way, so they can effectively play their part in groups, social networks and organizations. While Aquarius is often described as rebellious – Aquarius can be quite conservative or rigid in their ideas. However, because we live in a society that values conformity and homogeneity over diversity, Aquarian energy is interpreted as rebellious. Aquarius isn’t individualistic but it understands the power of individuation; the process by which you come to know yourself and understand why you are here, so that you then become useful to the communities you belong to.

With the Sun in sidereal Aquarius, we possess the ability to direct our creative energy towards the well being of society, through humanitarianism, innovation and collective organizing. Friendships, social or professional networks, groups, organizations provide an outlet for constructive use of this energy. Involvement in group efforts is favored during this time and can support significant progress towards your long term goals. Because Aquarius is a fixed sign, changes you make now are more likely to stick.

Uranus in sidereal Taurus brings a conflicting energy to this New Moon – breaking you out of patterns of behavior that are no longer getting you results, liberating you from social conventions or norms that have become too rigid and don’t work anymore. Uranus needs freedom, individual freedom to explore, experiment and try new ways of doing things. Taurus needs comfort and safety, and often achieves safety through conforming to the status quo. Venus , Taurus’ ruler, doesn’t only rule over glamor, art and beauty. Venus is inherently political as it is her influence that brings and hold people together, especially where pleasure and money reside. Uranian and Venusian energies do not blend well, and so this energy can be destructive in the material sense. It is in the ashes of was and what remains that new beginnings can take seed.

Eclipses are portals. Eclipses warp time and accelerate the pace of change. Eclipses aren’t energy you can work with. Eclipses work on you. This Aquarius eclipse will bring you into contact with fate – the path you chose to walk in this lifetime, the contract you made with spirit to fulfill in this life.
